Pay: £85.44 per day
Contract: Long-term (Temp to Perm Opportunities)
About the Role:
We are seeking a resilient and committed Youth Mentor to join a Secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Wolverhampton. This is a challenging but highly rewarding role, working closely with students who require additional behavioural and emotional support.
The school environment can be demanding; some students may display challenging behaviour including verbal confrontation and occasional physical incidents. As such, this role requires someone with strong character, confidence, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 support to students, tailored to their individual needs and strengths
- Building positive, trusting relationships with students
- Supporting behaviour management and emotional regulation
- Acting as a positive role model at all times
- Working closely with teaching staff and support teams
Who We’re Looking For:
We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds. You do not need to be a qualified teacher, but you must have the right mindset and resilience.
Ideal experience includes:
- Youth Mentoring or Support Work
- Teaching Assistant (TA) or Cover Supervisor roles in similar settings
- Experience working in SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision environments
- Backgrounds such as prison officers, security, or other roles requiring strong behaviour management
Essential Qualities:
- Strong presence and “backbone” – able to set boundaries and command respect
- Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient
- Able to handle confrontation in a professional manner
- Genuine passion for supporting young people
What We Offer:
- Long-term position with the potential to become permanent
- Valuable experience in a specialist education setting
- Support from an experienced school team
- Opportunity to make a real difference in young people’s lives
If you are confident, resilient, and ready to take on a challenging but meaningful role, we would love to hear from you.
