ADHD Tutor (1:1 Alternative Provision)
Location: Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham
Pay: £20–£25 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours: Flexible – Part-Time or Full-Time (Monday–Friday)
About Connex Education
At Connex Education Partnership, we deliver personalised one-to-one tuition to young people who are unable to access mainstream education. Through our Alternative Provision service, we help learners re-engage with education, develop confidence, and achieve meaningful academic and personal progress in a supportive environment.
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic ADHD Tutor to provide tailored one-to-one support to secondary-aged learners in the Sutton Coldfield area.
This role involves working with young people who have ADHD and may also present with additional needs such as Autism, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, or moderate learning difficulties. You will deliver engaging, personalised tuition designed around each learner’s strengths, interests, and individual learning profile.
As an ADHD Tutor, you will play a vital role in helping students improve focus, build confidence, develop positive learning habits, and achieve their educational goals.
Availability across Monday to Friday is preferred, with a minimum commitment of three days per week. Sessions are typically around two hours per day, with opportunities for additional hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging one-to-one tuition to secondary-aged students.
- Plan and adapt learning sessions to meet individual needs, targets, and outcomes.
- Support learners with ADHD and a range of SEND and communication needs.
- Encourage confidence, independence, self-regulation, and positive attitudes towards learning.
- Monitor student progress and complete session feedback.
- Work collaboratively with families, schools, local authorities, and other professionals.
- Create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
About You
We welcome applications from qualified and unqualified teachers, tutors, learning mentors, and experienced education professionals with experience supporting secondary-aged learners.
You should have:
- Experience working with young people with ADHD and/or SEND.
- Knowledge of ADHD, Autism, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach.
- The ability to personalise learning and adapt teaching strategies effectively.
Experience with communication approaches such as PECS, Makaton, Attention Autism, or other SEND-focused interventions is desirable but not essential.
