SEN Teacher – Autism Specialist
Location: Great Barr, Birmingham
Pay rate: £160 to £280 Per day
Connex Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a welcoming SEN school in Great Barr, Birmingham. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
The Role:
You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils with autism. Working within a supportive and experienced team, you will create a structured and nurturing environment that promotes learning, independence and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver creative, personalised lessons in line with EHCP targets
- Support pupils with a range of communication and sensory needs
- Implement behaviour management strategies effectively and consistently
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records
- Foster a safe, inclusive and positive classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent/experience
- Experience working with children with autism and additional needs
- A patient, empathetic and flexible approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of strategies such as PECS, Makaton or TEACCH (desirable)
