Connex Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Wembdon, part of the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust to recruit a part-time SEND Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated support team from September 2026.

The school is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child is encouraged to thrive. With a strong focus on wellbeing, high-quality education and personalised support, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children with additional needs.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work Monday to Friday, 8:50am–1:15pm, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs across the school.

This is not a one-to-one role. Instead, you will work flexibly with a variety of pupils and classes, providing targeted support, leading small-group interventions and assisting teachers in delivering inclusive learning opportunities.

The role is initially offered from September until October half-term, with the potential for further opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional learning needs.
  • Deliver small-group and individual interventions where required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team to support learning across different classes.
  • Promote pupils’ confidence, independence and engagement in the classroom.
  • Support pupils’ communication, emotional wellbeing and social development.
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual learning needs.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people, particularly those with SEND.
  • Experience working with pupils with additional needs is essential.
  • Teaching Assistant qualifications are welcomed but not essential.
  • A patient, positive and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.

Why Join Connex Education?

  • Competitive daily rates, paid weekly via PAYE.
  • Consistent part-time working hours to support work-life balance.
  • Complimentary access to our SEND Toolkit for ongoing professional development.
  • Funded qualifications including Level 2 SEND, Level 3 Teaching & Learning, Level 4 HLTA and Level 5 TEFL.
  • Career progression opportunities through our Care to Classroom conversion programme.
  • Wellbeing support and refresher training tailored to today’s classroom environment.
  • A dedicated education consultant to support you throughout your placement.
  • Earn a £200 referral bonus for every TA or teacher you successfully refer to Connex Education.
