SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Arnold
Pay: Up to £525 per week, dependent on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:20pm
Contract: Day-to-day with long-term opportunities

About the Role

Connex Education are recruiting for a dedicated and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist SEND school. This role involves supporting pupils with their day-to-day learning, behavioural and emotional needs, working alongside experienced teaching staff to provide a positive and inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will be able to remain calm under pressure, think on their feet and build positive relationships with young people who require additional support.

Role Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils across Key Stage 3 through to Further Education.
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to help pupils engage with learning.
  • Supporting pupils with their behavioural and emotional needs throughout the school day.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and structured lessons.
  • Preparing learning resources and supporting classroom organisation.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupil engagement.
  • Supporting children with additional learning needs to achieve their individual potential.

This specialist SEND school has built a strong reputation for providing a supportive environment for both pupils and staff. The school is seeking individuals who are proactive, adaptable and confident in responding to the varying needs of pupils. Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, or experience managing challenging behaviour, would be highly advantageous. Person Specification 

To be considered for this role candidates must have / be able to demonstrate:  

  • A L2/L3 Teaching Assistant qualification and/or exceptional relatable experience of working as a Teaching Assistant. 
  • Experience of working as a teaching Assistant in a British curriculum school for a minimum of two terms. 
  • Full enhanced DBS certificate. 
  • Completion of the Connex Education Onboarding Process. 
  • The ability to show a genuine desire and passion for working as a teaching assistant. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong rapport building skills, with pupils and with co-workers. 
  • A minimum of 2 school-based references
