SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Arnold
Pay: Up to £525 per week, dependent on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:20pm
Contract: Day-to-day with long-term opportunities

About the Role
Connex Education are recruiting for a dedicated and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school. This role involves supporting pupils with their day-to-day learning, behavioural and emotional needs while working alongside experienced teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will be calm, resilient and proactive, with the ability to think on their feet and build positive relationships with young people who require additional support. This role is based within the school’s primary site, supporting pupils from Year 1 through to Year 7 (Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3).
Role Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3.
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to help pupils engage with learning.
- Supporting pupils with their behavioural and emotional needs throughout the school day.
- Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and structured lessons.
- Preparing learning resources and supporting classroom organisation.
- Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupil engagement.
- Supporting children with additional learning needs to achieve their individual potential.
About the School
This specialist SEND school has built a strong reputation for providing a supportive environment for both pupils and staff. The role is based within the school’s primary site, supporting pupils from Year 1 through to Year 7. The school is seeking individuals who are proactive, adaptable and confident in responding to the varying needs of pupils. Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, or experience supporting pupils with behaviours that challenge, would be highly advantageous. Person Specification
To be considered for this role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or exceptional relevant experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
- A minimum of two terms’ experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a British curriculum school.
- A current Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- The ability to successfully complete the Connex Education onboarding process.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong relationship-building skills with both pupils and colleagues.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
- Two school-based professional references.
