Connex Education is working with a large growing SEN Primary School in Chelmsford, Essex who are recruiting for SEND Teaching Assistants to work full- time.
About the school
This school provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students aged 3 to 19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). It caters to pupils with profound (PMLD), severe (SLD), and complex learning difficulties, including those with autism (ASD) and physical disabilities. The school focuses on a personalized curriculum that promotes academic, social, and life skills, helping students develop independence and confidence. With dedicated staff, specialist facilities, and a strong community ethos, it ensures that every learner receives the support they need to reach their full potential.
Assignment Details
Full-time long-term roles starting ASAP, until at least the end of the current school year.
Monday – Friday, 8.30am start, 4pm Finish.
Person Specification
- Previous Experience in Education or Care: Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEND, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), PMLD, or SLD.
- Willing to provide personal care: Experience in personal care or supporting individuals with physical disabilities may also be beneficial.
- Classroom Experience: Prior work in a school or educational setting, even if in a volunteer capacity, is highly advantageous.
- Experience with SEND Strategies: Familiarity with strategies for behavior management, sensory processing needs, or communication aids (e.g., Makaton, PECs).
- Adaptability: Experience in flexible environments where different learning or care needs must be met.
- Teamwork Skills: Experience collaborating with teachers, therapists, or multidisciplinary teams.
- DBS: Have a current DBS on the update service or willing to provide a new one.
