During October, Connex Education Partnership sponsored The Tutors’ Associations, National Tutors’ Conference.
The conference took place on the 29th October and was attended by over 300 tutors and tutoring support providers from the UK and Internationally. The conference was opened by the Secretary of State, Nadhim Zahawi. He shared his belief that tutoring was a key element of future proofing the UK’s education system helping our children catch up with their lost learning, caused by the pandemic.
Attendees were treated to a wide variety of training and information sessions. This included; focuses on being agile, examples of great tutor training, and incorporating retrieval practice into tutoring sessions. The morning session included an insightful panel discussion around the National Tutoring Programme with our very own Stephen Emsley as a panellist from Connex Education Partnership sharing his experiences.
The afternoon provided a mixture of sessions around marketing and what it is like to get started as a tutor. We then had our Director of Learning and Development, Georgie McIntyre present a session on the Tutoring Communication Triangle, a framework used by our organisations to focus on quality. The conference was a resounding success and feedback was extremely positive about the quality and variety of sessions attended.
Connex Education Partnership are already looking forward to supporting next years event. The National Tutors’ Conference 2022 will be hosted at The Royal Institute in London with live streaming. If you’re a tutor through Connex Education Partnership you’ll be entitled to a £30 membership discount with The Tutor Association. Register as a member, here.
