SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

Location: Didsbury, Greater Manchester
Salary: £425 – £475 per week (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Fixed-Term
Start Date: February 2025 until July 2025

About the School

Our partner school is a respected institution within the community, known for its supportive and inclusive environment. The school boasts excellent transport links, with easy access via local bus routes and major motorway networks. It is committed to creating a nurturing atmosphere where both staff and students thrive.

The role is full-time, running from 8:30am to 3:30pm, initially until July 2025, with the potential for a direct, permanent extension. You will work closely with both students and teachers to support teaching and learning across various subjects.

This role involves working heavily with students have additional needs such was Autism and ADHD, and will require an ability to nurture and support 1-1 and in the classroom. 

Key Responsibilities of this SEN Teaching Assistant role in Didsbury are:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

– Support teaching and learning across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4), providing targeted assistance to students.
– Work with students with a variety of learning needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
– Contribute to lesson planning and delivery under the guidance of classroom teachers.
– Collaborate with teachers and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to improve classroom practices and student outcomes.
– Assist with classroom management, ensuring a positive and focused learning environment.
– Receive continuous professional development and support from the school and Connex Education.

Essential Requirements:

Experience: Prior experience working with young people, especially in an educational or similar setting, is essential.
– Qualifications: A minimum of grade C/4 in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
– Age: Applicants must be 21 years or older.
– DBS Check: A current DBS on the update service, or a willingness to obtain one.
– Graduates from all subject specialisms: are welcome to apply, though preference will be given to those with experience working with young people with SEND.

Desirable Qualities:

– Passion for education and a desire to pursue a career in teaching.
– Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.
– A proactive and driven individual who is dedicated to improving student outcomes.
– Experience or a particular interest in working with SEND students.
