EYFS Specialist with SEND Interest
£400 – £450 per week, dependent on experience

I am working with a school in Widnes who are looking for an EYFS Specialist to join their team. This role will start in January 2025 and will last the academic year.
The SEND School cater for students of primary age across 2 Halton sites. All students have Severe Learning Difficulties, such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome. Many of the students have sensory processing disorder and may need time away from the classroom to ensure their sensory and emotional needs are met. Due to the nature of this school, all students have a bespoke curriculum and any academic work will be very similar to the Early Years Framework. The school is equipped with sensory and breakout rooms onsite, as well as a brilliant outdoor area for students to explore and fulfil their sensory needs.
As the successful Teaching Assistant, you will be predominantly based on the Widnes site, however you may be required to work at a Runcorn site on occasion. You will be based in a small Key Stage 2 Classroom of 7-8 students, with 1 teacher and 2 other Teaching Assistants. You will be required to work both inside and out of the classroom on a 1:1 basis. Some students in this classroom have PICA syndrome, so you will need to be observant and ready to act quickly. In addition, there are 2 non-verbal students, therefor any experience with alternative communication methods would be desirable. There will be occasions when you will need to assist with personal care.

Person Specification:
- Have experience of supporting pupils with Special Needs either in a School or a similar setting.
- Be willing to provide personal care Be confident in working with challenging behaviour.
- Have a current DBS on the update service or willing to provide a new one.
