Location: Alternative Provisions, PRUs & SEND Schools across Middlesbrough |
Full-time, Term-time
£400 – £450 per week

We’re seeking exceptional individuals who thrive in high-support environments and understand that every day brings different challenges and victories. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant across our specialist settings, you’ll be working with students who need skilled, patient, and resilient professionals who never give up on them.
THE ROLE IN DEPTH: You’ll be the professional who:
- Expertly supports students who may have been excluded from mainstream education.
- Implements de-escalation techniques and positive behavior management strategies.
- Creates safe, structured environments where students can rebuild their relationship with education.
- Works with students who have complex SEMH needs, including trauma responses.
- Supports learning while managing challenging behaviors.
- Collaborates within multi-disciplinary teams including social workers, CAMHS, and other agencies.

YOUR ESSENTIAL TOOLKIT: The ideal candidate brings:
- Proven experience in PRUs, Alternative Provisions, or SEND schools.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches
- Experience with students who present challenging behaviors.
- Confidence in managing crisis situations.
- Knowledge of safeguarding in high-risk settings
- Physical intervention training (desired but training provided)
- Most importantly: resilience, patience, and an unwavering belief in second chances
