Are you passionate about making a real difference in children’s lives? Connex Education is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant for an outstanding school in Islington. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH needs.
About the Role: As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll be integral to our students’ success, providing crucial support across Years 1-6. You’ll work alongside experienced teachers and our SENCO to deliver high-quality educational support that transforms young lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and lead targeted interventions including Read Write Inc (RWI) phonics and speech & language programs
- Provide specialized one-to-one and small group support across primary year groups
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement effective learning strategies
- Create engaging resources tailored to individual student needs
- Support students’ social and emotional development
- Maintain detailed progress records and contribute to student support plans
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Proven experience supporting children with SEND, particularly ASD, ADHD, and SEMH
- Strong knowledge of phonics teaching (RWI) and speech & language interventions
- Experience delivering successful educational interventions
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and practices
- Excellent communication skills and a patient, nurturing approach
- The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
