About the role
Connex Education is working with a diverse Secondary School based in Chiswick who are looking for dedicated Teaching Assistants to work with SEND Pupils both within the SEND Unit and within the mainstream classrooms.

Located in West London, this mixed secondary school serves students aged 11 to 18 and is dedicated to inclusivity and personalized learning. Its Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) department, known as the Personalised Learning Department, focuses on meeting the diverse needs of all learners, ensuring that inclusion is central to the school’s policies and practices. The department provides tailored support for students with various needs, including communication and interaction challenges, cognition and learning difficulties, social, emotional, and mental health issues, as well as sensory and physical impairments.
Assignment Details
This role will commence ASAP until at least the end of the school year. Hours are 8.30am – 4pm, Monday – Friday (Term time only).
Person Specification
- Experience working with children or young people, especially those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- An understanding of strategies, including techniques to support students with autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or emotional and behavioral challenges.
- Ability to provide 1:1 and group support tailored to individual needs.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with children who may have challenging behavior or additional needs.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs and a dedication to helping them achieve their full potential.
- Dedication to maintaining high levels of safeguarding and promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent OR be willing to complete our job ready CPD training.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within a secondary school environment.
- Knowledge of EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans) and how to implement them effectively.
