Overseas Trained Teachers – Primary and Secondary School Opportunities
Location: Derby, Ilkeston, Alfreton and surrounding areas
Salary: £750 to £1,115 per week dependent on experience
About the Role
Connex Education Solutions is seeking qualified overseas teachers for exciting primary and secondary school teaching opportunities in Derby, Ilkeston, Alfreton, and surrounding areas. We offer both flexible supply teaching positions and potential long-term roles with our partner Multi-Academy Trusts.
Eligibility
You may be eligible to teach as an overseas trained teacher if:
- You have a teaching qualification from one of the following countries and regions, allowing you to apply for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England through the new professional recognition service:
- Australia
- Canada
- EEA countries
- Guernsey
- Gibraltar
- Hong Kong
- Jersey
- New Zealand
- Northern Ireland
- Scotland
- Switzerland
- Ukraine
- USA
- You have a subject specialism in languages, maths, or science and a teaching qualification to teach 11 to 16-year-olds from:
- Ghana
- India
- Jamaica
- Nigeria
- Singapore
- South Africa
- Your qualifications are recognised by UK ENIC (formerly UK NARIC), even if your country is not listed above. As we work with Multi-Academy Trusts, we have more flexibility in placing overseas trained teachers.

Assignment Details
- Flexible assignments throughout the academic year

- Ranging from daily supply to potential long-term positions
- Placements available in both primary and secondary schools
Person Specification
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), eligible to apply for QTS in England, or qualifications recognised by UK ENIC
- Right to Work in the UK (We are unable to sponosr VISAs for this opportunity)
- Experience teaching in primary or secondary school settings
- Strong curriculum knowledge in your subject area or across primary key stages
- Excellent classroom management and differentiation skills
- Ability to create engaging and inclusive learning environments
- Passion for education and pupil development
- Adaptability and willingness to work in various school settings
- Current DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain a new one
