About the role

Connex Education is seeking an organised and responsible cover supervisor to provide general cover, classroom supervision and student support at a secondary school in Darlington and surrounding areas. This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday from 8:15am-3:15pm during school term times.

About the school 

Well established SEND/SEMH school’s, Pupil refereal units and Alternative provisions within the Middlesbrough area are currently looking for enthusiastic and flexible cover supervisors to supervise classes or provide learning support on a 1:1 basis. The right candidates will shares the same passion and values for education. The school is looking for a Cover staff who is hard working, resilient and who wants to make a difference to pupils education. The right candidate will be able to confidently step into lessons and continue teaching the existing schemes of work.

Assignment Details

As a cover supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining a productive and orderly learning environment for students ages 11-16 when their regular teacher is unavailable. This Includes supervising whole classes across various subjects when teachers are absent and following lesson plans left by teachers to facilitate activities and assist students. It also important to support students in completing tasks and promoting positive behaviour in the classroom

Person Specification

  • must be 21 and over
  • Have experience in UK based schools
  • Must drive due to location
  • You must have an enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to apply for a new one
  • Be able to plan and deliver engaging KS3 and KS4 lessons across ability and subject ranges.
  • Have excellent behaviour management and classroom control skills.
